About this Role
As an Infrastructure Quality Engineer you will work as part of the Tech Delivery organisation supporting the engineering and continued development of a growing AWS cloud footprint within Capital One. As a contributor to a focused Core Infrastructure delivery team you will ensure the quality of the 'infrastructure as code' approach, looking to automate testing as much as possible and drive efficient working practices as the growth of our Cloud platform continues. Our Infrastructure Quality Engineers are responsible for the quality and stability of our Cloud based services, through automated testing at both the infrastructure and application level. We frequently find ourselves working with geographically dispersed teams and assuring quality across massively integrated systems to service customers' needs.
What you’ll do:
Deliver automated testing at both the infrastructure and application level to create systems that the rest of our line of business can depend on
Continued support, maintenance and development of our core systems, enhancing our internal Customers’ journeys on their path to CI/CD
Design, develop and maintain high quality Core Infrastructure services
Work collaboratively across teams spanning multiple time zones
What we’re looking for:
Solid programming skills in Unix Shell, Java, Inspec/ Ruby
An understanding of testing principles and how automation can aid them
Working collaboratively, able to communicate effectively and commitment to be part of a successful team
Ability to learn new systems, technologies and approaches with speed and accuracy
Experience in - and ability to implement - Agile quality techniques and principles (TDD, BDD, Pair Programming)
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position and will be based in our Nottingham office. We're currently working fully remote until 7th September after which time we're adopting a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration.
Our core in-the-office days are Tuesday to Thursday, but they aren't mandatory - you’ll be led by your team, the type of work you do and of course your preferences. Many of our team have flexible working patterns so we’re open to discuss flexible working arrangements with you.
