Recoveries Supplier Manager - Principal Associate

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join Capital One’s UK Supplier Management Office. This role is to manage and partner with our debt recovery suppliers, including managed recovery services such as insolvency, as well as managing our panel of Debt Purchasers.

Our debt recovery suppliers work with our customers in times of their greatest need. At Capital One our customers come first. Your role will involve working with your suppliers to ensure the  balance between core customer service and debt recovery is achieved.

The Capital One Supplier Management Office (SMO) is responsible for managing the relationship with suppliers to the Capital One Enterprise Third Party Management (TPM) Policy. This means we have to be sure our Suppliers meet Capital One’s rigorous standards in terms of contractual, performance and risk management.

Reporting into the Senior Manager Category Lead you will be responsible for the relationship between Capital One and your assigned third parties, to ensure a stable and efficient delivery of service.  You will be responsible for holding a high bar on customer centric recovery practices, regulatory management, risk management, contract management, relationship management and cost management related tasks for each of your suppliers.

Beyond the above,  we’ll expect you to understand your supplier’s business inside out so that you can build credibility with your numerous internal and supplier stakeholders, deliver the best service for Capital One through your suppliers, and help establish a longer term strategic path for the business within your category of suppliers.

Role Specialisms:

  • Be the expert in Debt Recovery. Partner with the business & help lead Capital One’s thinking on how to best leverage the expertise and the services of your managed suppliers

  • Maintain constant awareness of the external marketplace as it relates to your suppliers and/or relevant internal capabilities. Use this knowledge to steer Capital One’s strategy within the Debt Recovery area to help deliver financial, regulatory and customer centric targets

  • Build key relationships with COEP Director+ & teams. Use these relationships to help define & deliver Recoveries strategy across Recoveries Intent, Operations and Supplier Management

  • Develop your presence in the external UK Debt Recovery community to leverage insight into industry practices and challenges that will help build Capital One’s recoveries strategy & will further your knowledge of your key suppliers & partners; as well as potential future partners

  • Beyond your own supplier base; define, deliver and act on market insight within the wider UK Recoveries marketplace

  • Act as primary point of contact for your suppliers and manage an effective governance structure to enable the appropriate level of communication and interaction between Capital One and your suppliers

  • With COEP Legal, own the COEP performance and delivery standard on Debt Sale. Hold the bar on delivering to the documented standard across the UK business

Core Supplier Management Activities:

  • Manage your suppliers to the full supplier lifecycle, including due diligence, contracting, on-boarding, service provision, ongoing assessment and supplier exit

  • Act as primary point of contact for your suppliers and manage an effective governance structure to enable the appropriate level of communication and interaction between Capital One and your suppliers

  • Assist in development and delivery of category/supplier strategies

  • Contracting experience is required. This role requires the role holder to work closely with COEP Legal to deliver Framework Agreements as well as core MSA’s & SOW’s across your supplier base

  • Ensure business goals are met through strong performance, risk and relationship oversight of our extended supply chain and ensuring compliance with Capital One’s Third Party Management (TPM) policy

  • Monitor and ensure successful delivery against third party contractual obligations

  • Resolve performance related issues/escalations with third parties

  • Produce regular performance related reporting for internal stakeholders

  • Proactively identify and mitigate third party related risk

  • Responsible for managing all third party-related audits and assessments

  • Partner with internal risk groups to ensure third party relationships are compliant with all relevant requirements

  • Travel to various third party sites (nationwide, UK based) regularly and as the role requires

Typical Work Experience & Required Skills:

You will need outstanding communication and relationship building skills. Supplier Managers must be able to influence and persuade executives, provide clear project guidance to customers, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • Experience of working within Recoveries management within a financial organisation will be advantageous

  • Previous experience of Supplier Management, Contracting & Risk Management are key to this role

  • You’ll have, or will need to build, excellent subject matter expertise in third party selection, negotiation, communication, and third party management

  • You’ll need to be able to  manage suppliers to contracts, and so experience in contracting is key

  • Strong problem identification / problem resolution skills.

  • Ability to quickly build ad hoc teams to resolve problems or issues, as needed

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Strong initiative, work ethic, and drive

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment

  • Ability to generate and pursue ideas

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others

  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
