Senior Risk Manager, Marketing and Analytics

An experienced and highly skilled risk manager is sought to develop and oversee the first line risk & process strategy for Capital One UK’s Marketing & Analytics teams (covering Product Strategy, Data Science, Brand & Design, Performance Marketing and Data Analytics).

This is a varied role so what will you do?

  • Reporting into the Marketing Leadership Team, you will play a key role in our business imperative to ‘Be Dynamic and Well Controlled’, contributing to the effective design and delivery of our risk management strategy

  • Act as the key point of contact for risk management activities driven by our centralised UK Business Risk Office (UKBRO) function.  

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and influence and support key regulatory change projects

  • Support process management teams within the first line and ensure the business maintains a ‘Dynamic and Well Controlled’ standard for process ownership, risk management and controls.

  • Deliver robust oversight of the end to end third party management process - from strategy to sourcing and selection, contracting, management and termination

  • Lead a team of risk, process and third party managers; who provide challenge, coaching and set best practice for process managers and owners across the departments

  • Owning the design and execution of an effective risk management strategy, adding value through effective and efficient risk mitigation and controls oversight

  • Being a ‘go to’ person, leading and advising on risk management strategy: design to support the execution of effective operational risk management

  • Building networks inside and outside of Capital One to develop and share best practice in risk management

  • Influencing senior leaders on emerging risks and investments required to maintain a well-controlled operation

  • Supporting process owners and senior stakeholders to develop risks, controls and a strong risk management culture; influencing, challenging and escalating where appropriate

If you have:

  • Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders and possess the confidence to be able to challenge and influence external and internal stakeholders

  • A passion to lead and coach people to drive great risk management practices to protect the business and our customers

  • Strong communication skills

  • Confident judgement to formulate proposals and make solid recommendations to senior stakeholders

  • An ability to balance the needs of the business with a pragmatic approach to risk management
