Senior UI Product Designer

We’re looking for a Senior UI/Visual Designer to join our Product Design team. Despite being fully remote until it's safe to return to our offices, the role is based in our Nottingham office but you will occasionally need to travel to London, as you'll be working with people across both locations.

Product Design is a team of people with various skills and expertise, including UX, UI and Content. Designers partner with Product and Engineering within a Tribes model. Each Tribe owns its own roadmap, commercials and a customer-facing agenda. Our UX Designers advise and work alongside tribe leadership and hold the reigns of the product experience for our mobile app, web servicing and agent experience. They work with engineering teams using Agile delivery, co-creating and continually optimising our product experience. UI Designers act as guardians of our brand experience, ensuring the continuity and consistency of our design language. Our Content leads craft language that builds trust, removes ambiguity and help maintain our values of simplicity even when dealing with complex financial processes. 

We are all expected to collaborate with the business all the way through the delivery journey. Building roadmaps and working to identify, address and resolve delivery challenges. We’re not a digitally native business, so our Product Designers have to be strong collaborators, communicators and facilitators. Willing to work with partners across the business, demonstrating strong leadership and accepting shared responsibility for our successes and failures. 

What you'll do:

  • Deliver work that spans all project phases, from concept and design through to production (e.g. sketches, mock-ups, low and hi-fidelity comps, specs, guidelines and production-ready assets)

  • Explore a variety of visual design directions in a rapid, iterative fashion, incorporating feedback from the design team and stakeholders

  • Be a brand guardian and influence the application and development of our visual language

  • Support UX designers in ideation sessions and workshops to develop ideas that address both customer and business needs

  • Use your visual thinking to help team members across disciplines understand, frame and communicate real business problems. When people talk, you visualise ways to represent their message

  • Push creative boundaries and be a relentless advocate for quality

  • Partner closely with engineering teams and oversee the development process to get your solution into the hands of the user

What we're looking for:

  • Creative storytelling, illustration and data visualisation skills

  • Proven experience in UI and visual design, with pixel-level attention to detail. An eye for typography, colour, layout, and brand identity

  • Experience working with and contributing to Design Systems

  • An eagerness to learn and share new approaches to deliver effective design

  • Ability to switch between distinct projects, managing multiple subjects, deadlines and stakeholders at once

  • Experience of delivering projects within an agile environment

  • Experience working with interactive content (e.g. responsive layouts, mobile app, etc) and proficiency in creating production-ready artwork and assets

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate your thinking and ideas and interact with colleagues at all levels of the business. You'll have many stakeholders and you’ll need to build great working relationships with different types of people

  • An awareness of industry trends in creative and visual design

Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in graphic, visual or related design, digital media design or other design specialty, fine arts or other related field, or equivalent experience

  • A portfolio that exhibits your creative potential across a variety of platforms (eg. Mobile, web). We’d love to see examples of how you’ve creatively responded to a complex brief, or challenging content

  • Skilled using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Framer, InVision, Adobe Suite
