Capital One is seeking a collaborative and innovative product leader who's passionate about creating and scaling new digital experiences that dramatically change the way people interact with credit. This role will be accountable as a strategic thought leader in product management for Capital One UK who will help us translate business strategies and consumer needs into the leverage growth capabilities. In leveraging big data, human insights, and analytics, they will collaborate with tech and design partners on architecting and aligning all aspects of our user experience. This leader will help us evolve existing and position new capabilities to provide relevant, contextual, proactive and intelligent customer experiences. 

What you’ll do

  • Lead our Growth product group as a transformational leader who is accountable, transparent and passionate about the role Product plays in delivering business value. 

  • Influence senior stakeholders and internal customers to manage a portfolio of investments focussed on driving growth

  • Balance competing agendas to ensure growth product strategies deliver on key outcomes (economic, risk, experience) and ultimately drive the business forward. 

  • Work closely with Marketing & Analytics, Business Development & Tech to facilitate prioritisation discussions with leadership team sponsors. 

  • Ensure that the product changes needed to deliver the growth strategy are included in the relevant product roadmap / backlog and are sequenced and prioritized appropriately.

  • In discovery, push the boundaries of the depth and breadth of understanding of macro forces, trends and where they will intersect to create opportunities for breakout advantage and outcomes. 

  • Continuously seek to understand and respond to our customers' needs and innovate in line with their expectations. 

  • Inspire and influence others to focus on solving clear customer problems and deliver with a customer/user-first mindset. 

  • Make choices based on the total cost of ownership and risk management profile of our product and technology footprint (ie strike the balance between build vs buy) and work hand in hand with technology leadership to create the workforce to fulfil the vision. 

  • Challenge the team to deliver enduring value by building on, reusing or contributing to extensible and easy-to-use capabilities, and being conscious of where we choose to build complexity to differentiate business outcome / customer experience 

  • Collaborate with the Technology Delivery Leaders to continuously improve the end-to-end product delivery lifecycle across the Growth domain

  • Reinforce team agility to respond to changes from internal customer/business needs or strategic direction whilst ensuring the engineering teams have a pipeline of refined work to keep continuous delivery and productivity. 

  • Identify, explore and build on resilient, future-facing technologies that allow us to remain competitive, scalable, & relevant to our customers. 

What you’ll bring

  • Experience as an accomplished product leader in a large, complex organisation that is heavily digital and consumer focused

  • Proven experience in and passion for translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

  • Working knowledge of design thinking, as well as experience working with cloud technologies and ideally an understanding of UK regulatory landscapes and consumer lending

  • The ability to develop a vision and drive the execution of that vision to deliver top-tier results. 

  • Excellent partnership skills, with the ability to leverage the capabilities of technology, design peers, and business partners, as well as the confidence to influence executive leadership and various internal stakeholders. 

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to adapt and communicate compellingly and with authenticity to any audience (including internal and external stakeholders)

  • A track record of developing a high performing and cross functional team of product management professionals,

Where and how you'll work

This is an interim position for 12 months, based in our Nottingham or London offices.  

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home. 

We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in one of our offices 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you’re London based, then there will be an expectation that frequent travel to Nottingham will be required.
