Sourcing & Supply Chain Specialist - Principal Associate

About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for you  to join Capital One’s UK Supplier Management Office (SMO) as a Principal Associate. We are looking for skills across the Supply Chain (Sourcing to Supplier Management).

Our Supplier Management Office is responsible for the management of the end-to-end Third Party life cycle for Capital One in the UK, including sourcing, contracting and ongoing supplier / vendor and relationship management.

We’re looking for someone who has a passion for end to end supply chain management with an interest in sourcing, sourcing best practice (community of practice) and supplier management.

Reporting to our Sourcing Lead, you’ll help the business deliver on our strategy and goals  You’ll partner with stakeholders to understand market options & work with our Sourcing Lead as you execute on  buy decisions (including onboarding & management of those and or other / suppliers where required).  

You’ll also provide support to help establish our UK Sourcing Community of Practice as we build out more end to end capabilities across the wider team.

You’ll have a varied and exciting role. Work with other categories will also feature from time to time and there will be a need to operate as a Supplier Manager (sometimes potentially across categories).

What you’ll do:

  • Act as a sourcing & supply chain subject matter expert working with Category Leads, Supplier Managers and the wider business on procurement activities and best practices

  • Execute on agreed sourcing opportunities including RFI, RFP,RFX, direct negotiations and contract renewals

  • Collaborate with the wider Supplier Management team to support wider category activities as needed (e.g. negotiation of commercial terms)

  • Develop supply market knowledge, undertake benchmarking, work with research partners to bring external insight to our team 

  • Develop relationships, both internally and externally, to understand changes in the business environment and develop a deep understanding of business needs and deliver on business goals

  • Ensure that all corporate or business unit level policies and procedures are adhered to and ensure that appropriate documentation exists to support all sourcing and selection events including applicable due diligence

  • Support building a Sourcing Community of Practice within our team

  • Engage in managing third party relationships with Suppliers as and where required, here you will be responsible for undertaking all required activities to comply with Capital One's Third Party Management Policy at all stages of the Supplier life cycle. You will act as the primary point of contact for your suppliers and internal business stakeholders and will manage an effective governance structure to enable the appropriate level of communication and interaction between Capital One and your suppliers.

  • Travel to various Capital One sites & events where required.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone with a passion for end to end supply chain management with an interest in sourcing, sourcing best practice (community of practice) and supplier management (desirable)

  • Experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain function with Sourcing skills (essential) and Supplier Management skills (highly desirable)

  • Someone who is flexible and prepared to undertake a diverse role (working across the third party lifecycle as required) which will involve working across categories (as required) (essential)

  • Relevant Supplier Supplier Relationship Management Experience with demonstrable results and outcomes. We would like to see specialism in Supplier Relationship Management, with strong commercial, risk management, analytical, problem resolution skills (desirable)

  • Strong commercial negotiation experience (essential)

  • Excellent and demonstrable communication, relationship building and stakeholder management skills. (essential)

  • Previous experience of Risk Management as a core component of your role. We operate in a highly regulated industry so having an eye for detail and ensuring full compliance with all Corporate and Business Unit level policies and procedures is a must. (desirable)

  • Contracting experience. This role requires the role holder to work closely with COEP Legal to deliver Framework Agreements as well as core MSA’s & SOW’s across your supplier base  (desirable)

  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships  (essential)

  • Experience in the Financial Services sector or similar (desirable)

This is a permanent position and is based in our Nottingham offices.  

Our hybrid working model offers you the flexibility to work from our offices and from home, when you need to.

We're big on collaboration and connection, and so generally encourage our associates to use our offices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The number of days you spend in the office will usually be led by the type of work you’re doing, and the hybrid working patterns of the people you partner most closely with.
